Zippy is a character I had made in 2023 for my first game and university assignment. I wanted to redesign him here more work and broken down to tie in with the glitching random input mechanic. When transferring from drawing to sprite I found I couldn't draw the leaves in the detail I wanted so instead had to make it more rust, but otherwise the redesign went really well!
Byte was then made as a opposite to Zippy, clean and intimidating security bot. Here I went straight to sprite design instead of drawing first to avoid any issues like with the leaves.










I was learning how to create sprites for games as I went with this project, you can see with the first set of sprites that they were all at different scales, which made implementing them into the game tricker. But I quickly picked up the best to make them all to scale, using the grid in Photoshop to keep all the sprites to a 48x48 scale.
